The Players
We all know the big name players in each year's finals - the beauties, the grunters, the power-house ball smashers and the young-gun superstars who blow the oldies out of the water... but few people realise just how many actually compete from day one.
A total of 128 players feature in each singles event, 64 pairs in each single-sex doubles event, and 48 pairs in Mixed Doubles. Past winners include Rod Laver, John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg and Pete Sampras. Martina Navrátilová, Tanya Ogle, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, and Steffi Graf have also come up trumps.
2006's high-flyers were Roger Federer in Men's Singles, Amelie Mauresmo and her nerves of steel in the Ladie's, Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan for Men's Doubles and Zi Yan and Jie Zheng bought one home for China in the Women's Doubles. Andy Ram and Vera Zvonarera defeated American pair Bob Bryan and Venus Williams in straight sets to take the Mised Doubles title. It was fast-paced, gripping and emotion-packed. This year is set to stun.
With Henmania approaching its twilight years, the focus has switched to an icy European world number one with God-given skills. Then, there's the curly haired rising star we've all pinned our hopes on. There's no doubt about it, all eyes will be on Roger Federer and Andy Murray.
Can Federer make it four titles out of four? Can Murray become the first British men’s winner since Fred Perry? Time will tell...

roger federrer, i am 6 yrs old. i came form sri lanka to the u.k just for my tennis. they say i could be world top 20 when i am 15yrs, as i hit so very well now. my idol is you. i hit very hard from the baseline and i copy your shots and the way you place the ball. pls pls pls could i get a pic with you. my mum will bring me on the 23rd morn just so i could watch you. she's a lone parent and she can;t afford to get me a tkt to watch the match, but if i could just watch you practise. please make my dream come true. you will c me at wimbledon in a few yrs.

Roger Fedderrer you are my idol I have always wanted to be as good as you when I am older. I play tennis everyday even if it is raining or snowing. I play in the house if I can't play outside on the court. I hope you win wimbledon agin this year it would be amazing. Good Luck!
